
“Borrow some,” She nods sagely, tipping closer to him and lowering her voice as if it’s some kind of secret. They were going to steal cookies from the metaphorical cookie jar. It’d work—-this boy’s a little cutie, and Jude knows what she’s doing.
The woman behind the counter would definitely be wooed by a cute face, if necessary. She didn’t think they’d get caught. “Well, Sam. We’ve got some cookies to eat. Follow me.”
“Well okay!” Sam said easily, letting himself be dragged away by the girl.
Sam let his wings roll loosely on his shoulders as they rounded a corner. If he had guessed correctly, they were about to steal some cookies—-which Sam was completely okay with. He had to learn to steal to survive, so he had honestly gotten quite good at it.
