Anna took a few steps forward until he hit the case of china. If there was one thing Anna knew how to do, it was to not break anything valuable when you weren’t suppose to. She stopped advancing, but didn’t take her eyes off of the other’s back. It was…intriguing. She was almost certain those were feathers on his back now. “Yes there are. I may be homeless and half human, but I’m not dumb, sir. Those are feathers. I’m pretty sure they are.”
She smiled faintly and shook her head. “Hey, I won’t tell as long as you don’t—” But then the glass dropped. Anna’s eyes widened and she groaned. Well, now they were in for it. She could only think of one thing to do.
“Here.” she grabbed the other by the wrist, typing in a few things on her manipulator before using his hand to press the button. IN seconds they were outside the store. “Now we can pretend like we’re innocent bystanders.”

“As long as I don’t what?” He asked frantically, his question getting cut off as she grabbed him by the wrist. She fiddled with a gadget for a second, then before Sam knew what was happening, their surroundings had changed to the street where lamps illuminated the darkened sidewalk. The avian-boy gasped, then let out a chest full of air he wasn’t aware he had been holding.
“W-what—-what is that?! And, and, what do you mean you’re half human?!” Sam started to inch away from the girl, not being able to appreciate the fact they had narrowly avoided being caught breaking into a store. When Sam was flustered, he began to stutter and stumble over his words, which probably made him seam like a blubbering idiot to others.
Auburn feathers stood on end as he brought them slightly out from his back, not caring who saw now. His muscles were coiled and senses on high alert. There were too many weird things happening in one night.
His chest felt tight, and his mind felt wild. All at once, it seamed he could not get enough air. “Oh, god. Oh god.” Sam breathed heavy and fast, which made him stumble into the brick wall to the side of them. He clutched the stone, and willed his mind to calm down.
As the panic attack subsided, the avian-boy drew his wings back in, yet still held a hand out to motion to the girl not to come any closer. “Who are you, and what do you want from me? That meeting—-” he beckoned to the store front. “—-was not a coincidence.”

”Shopping? It looks like the store is closed.” she frowned, looking about. But if the store was closed…oh she couldn’t say anything. She had broken into places loads of times. Quite by accident, honestly, but she had still done it.
”Buddy, you okay?” She had turned her head back to him. He didn’t look very calm anymore. She guessed that was what people did when they got caught stealing. She wouldn’t know too much. Out of the corner of her eyes, she thought she saw something behind the other’s back. A…feather?
”Dude…there’s something on your back…I think. I could be wrong…but I’m ninety nine point nine percent sure.”

"Nope, hah, there’s nothing on my back.“ Sam laughed nervously and stood up straighter, his feet moving faster away from the girl until he backed into a case of fine china. Pale-green eyes flicked to the side as his brain tried to process an escape. Sam had never been caught stealing before, and made mental note to never put himself in this position again. He had to be more careful if he was going to live off thievery.
”The store is….not closed it’s just—- almost closed. Actually it closed an hour ago. Oh crap.“ Sam dropped the glass, causing it to shatter on the tile ground. A light flickered on down at the other side of the store, making Sam jump.
”We need to get out of here before the cops come,“ he said sternly, his feathers standing up as his heart rate increased.

Anna frowned at the other. She didn’t mean to startle anyone, but when one appeared out of thin air, one tended to scare people, correct? She was just glad he hadn’t broken anything. Then she probably would have felt terrible.
“Oh. Great.” she sighed and looked around for someone else. But it didn’t seem like anyone else was there. Just the two. Turning on the other once again, she asked, “If you don’t work here…then why are you in here when no on else is?”

“Uhm—-” he faltered over his words, the muscles in both his wings and his body coiled. “I’m shopping.” He held the glass out he had been holding since he ran into her. “See, shopping.”
The avian-boy started inching around the woman, keeping his back out of sight, though the bow in his wings did come above his shoulders. “So, yeah, I have to go….this way.”
Even though Sam had spent many years lying, he still wasn’t very good at it, and tended to clam up when he was under pressure.

”Oh, uh, sorry. Do you think they sell anything here that’s worth a penny?”

Sam almost dropped the glass he was holding, from shock that anyone had seen him in the corner of the store. It was dark, right before the store was about to close, and he was picking up a few things. Well, more like stealing a few things.
“I’m, uh, sorry—-I don’t know.” He swallowed hard and backed into a rack of clothes, in hope the lady didn’t see his wings. “I don’t work here.”
